Some (relatively slow) progress on the construction of the MODI building this weekend. I primed all 3D-printed parts with a coat of Mr Hobby Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 Gray. I kept the paint rather thick as this renders the surface the concrete tiles quite well. I then painted the facade with a mix of Tamiya XF2 Flat White and XF55 Deck Tan (just a few drops). I made the "windows" of the building with rectangles of brown translucent PVC. I tested different materials and selected the Takeda TTC 40-0230 Brown PVC sheet (Size: 160 mm x 115 mm 0.4 mm thick) as it is really glossy and reflects the light very well. I relied on my trusted Chopper to cut all the small rectangles required. For the six ad boards, I made a simple light box with a high-density LED strip. The ad boards have been printed on thick photo paper. The original plan was to insert them into the rectangular holes of the facade, but I decided it would be easier to avoid light leaks if I simply glued them on top of these rectangle frames I like the result. I think it renders well the unique facade of that building.
